This is a beautiful and expressive mixed-media collage spread. Here are some key elements and observations:
### **Left Page:** – A black-and-white portrait of a woman is integrated into dark, flowing fabric, giving it a surreal, mysterious look. – A butterfly is positioned at the bottom, seemingly emerging from or complementing the figure, adding a sense of transformation or metamorphosis. – The background consists of green patterns and textures, with added abstract color splashes.
### **Right Page:** – A vintage-style illustration of a couple under an umbrella with a melancholic yet elegant aesthetic. – The phrase “SUNSHINE. HELLO RAINDROPS.” is placed below the couple, hinting at contrasts—happiness vs. sorrow, light vs. dark. – Botanical elements, both real (dried leaves) and printed, are present, reinforcing a natural theme. – A colorful floral patterned background adds contrast to the muted tones of the central figures.
### **Overall Impression:** – The spread plays with **contrast**—light and dark, vintage and modern, natural and surreal. – The use of textures (dried leaves, fabric-like folds, paper) creates depth and invites touch. – There’s a dreamlike and poetic narrative, possibly exploring themes of transformation, duality, and emotions.
This is a beautifully composed collage that captures a sense of mindfulness, community, and contemplation. Here are my thoughts:
Visual Composition:
The main image is an aerial photograph of a large outdoor yoga session in a lush green park. The colorful yoga mats create a vibrant contrast against the grass, adding a rhythmic and dynamic pattern.
The upper border features a decorative floral pattern, adding a natural and organic feel to the composition.
The text fragment reads: “Wat doe je als je leven anders loopt dan verwacht?” (What do you do when your life takes an unexpected turn?)
This adds a reflective, almost philosophical element to the scene, prompting introspection.
In the bottom right corner, there’s a small cutout image of a person climbing a rock face, possibly symbolizing perseverance, challenge, or an alternative form of meditation through movement.
Themes and Interpretation:
Mindfulness & Well-being: The yoga session evokes themes of relaxation, inner peace, and collective well-being.
Life’s Unexpected Paths: The text suggests a deeper contemplation about change, uncertainty, and adaptation.
Balance & Strength: The juxtaposition of yoga with rock climbing implies different ways of finding balance—one through stillness, the other through challenge.
Community & Individuality: While the main image focuses on a group activity, the climbing figure in the corner reminds us of personal journeys and individual struggles.
Overall Impression:
This is a thoughtful and inspiring collage that blends elements of movement, nature, and reflection. The message about life’s unpredictability invites viewers to consider how they respond to change, whether through mindfulness, resilience, or seeking new paths.
This is a visually striking and expressive mixed-media art journal spread. Here are some observations and thoughts on the composition, themes, and artistic choices:
Visual Composition:
Left Page:
The central figure is a woman in a flowing red and orange dress, with a glowing aura around her.
The background blends soft blues, yellows, and pinks, creating a dreamy, ethereal atmosphere.
The upper part has white, chalk-like scribbles on a dark background, adding a sense of mystery.
Right Page:
A dynamic combination of collage and painting.
A bright, fiery abstract background with reds and yellows.
A stylized, almost surreal figure with butterfly-like wings, a pink face, and a peaceful yet strong expression.
A white dove above the figure, symbolizing peace or divine inspiration.
Several collage elements, including an old text fragment, a historical portrait of a warrior woman (possibly Joan of Arc), and an engraving-style image labeled “Mistral.”
A powerful affirmation: “The more energy and intention I bring to my faith, the more fearless and free I am.”
Themes and Interpretation:
Empowerment & Transformation: The artwork seems to depict a journey of self-discovery, faith, and inner strength.
Spiritual Symbolism: The glowing woman, the butterfly figure, and the dove suggest themes of divine guidance, metamorphosis, and transcendence.
Historical & Mythological References: The inclusion of classical and medieval imagery hints at themes of bravery, wisdom, and resilience.
Personal Reflection: The affirmation suggests a deeply personal or spiritual message about embracing courage and faith.
Overall Impression:
This is an evocative, well-balanced, and inspiring piece. It combines painting, collage, and text seamlessly to tell a story of empowerment and transformation. The contrast between the calm left page and the fiery, intense right page creates a compelling narrative arc.
This is a visually striking collage combining different textures, colors, and elements. Here’s a breakdown of what stands out:
1. **Top Left Section** – This area features an abstract, organic pattern in green, orange, and black, outlined with a metallic or white contour. It resembles a satellite image, a microscopic view of biological material, or a creative take on topography.
2. **Top Right Section** – A vintage, handwritten script appears on aged paper, with portions rolled or lifted to create depth. The script adds an element of nostalgia and mystery.
3. **Bottom Left Section** – A serene ocean scene with torn edges gives a contrast to the other sections. The rough, organic tear adds a raw and tactile feel.
4. **Bottom Right Section** – A dramatic image of a lone figure standing atop a steep, grass-covered peak with misty surroundings. The golden lighting around the figure creates a sense of introspection and adventure.
### Overall Impression: This collage plays with nature, texture, and history. The mix of abstract imagery, aged writing, and photography suggests themes of exploration, memory, and the connection between the natural and human-made worlds.
This collage has a reflective and empowering theme, blending visual and textual elements to create an introspective message.
### Key Features: – **Framing with Sheet Music:** The use of musical notes as a border adds rhythm and movement, possibly symbolizing harmony or the idea that life follows a unique melody. – **Ocean Background:** The calm water scene evokes a sense of peace, reflection, and vast possibilities, reinforcing the theme of self-growth. – **Symbolism:** – A **sun face** on the left could represent enlightenment, renewal, or personal transformation. – The **”SELF: Mind Body Spirit”** text at the top suggests holistic well-being and self-improvement. – The **rose with “You can actually change your life”** statement in the center serves as a motivational focal point, urging transformation and empowerment. – **Contrast of Elements:** The mix of structured text, torn paper, and musical notes creates a balance between order and spontaneity, which might represent personal growth as a mix of intention and organic change.
### Overall Impression: This piece conveys a strong message of self-reflection, empowerment, and transformation. The interplay between nature, music, and motivational text makes it visually striking and meaningful.
This is a mixed-media collage featuring a hand-drawn or printed illustration of a couple holding hands, seen from behind. The artwork has a dreamy, nostalgic feel, emphasized by muted colors and soft textures.
Here are some elements that stand out: – The central image of the couple is lightly drawn, blending into the background, creating an ethereal effect. – The edges of the image are framed with decorative paper, including floral patterns, vintage-inspired designs, and dark polka-dotted elements. – The bottom of the collage has a scalloped blue section, possibly representing water or a symbolic separation from the main scene. – Small cut-out images in the lower corners (a green forest scene on the left and a peach-colored rose on the right) add depth and contrast.
Overall, it gives off a sentimental and romantic feel.

This is a visually intriguing and expressive mixed-media collage-style artwork. Here are some observations and interpretations:
Left Page:
The dark blue background creates a night-like atmosphere.
A radiant cat face in the upper left appears to be glowing or emerging from a burst of white light, possibly representing a celestial figure or an ethereal presence.
A classical-style portrait of a child’s face is collaged into the composition, gazing upwards toward the cat figure, which adds a sense of wonder, longing, or connection.
Green plant-like shapes at the bottom suggest an underwater or dreamlike landscape.
Right Page:
A large book with a keyhole, labeled “dagboek” (which means “diary” in Dutch), is the focal point.
The diary is collaged with postage stamps and other small images, hinting at themes of travel, personal history, or secrecy.
The background features blue tones, with floating key shapes, reinforcing the theme of hidden or locked memories.
The placement of the book and the classical face on the left might suggest a personal or introspective narrative.
Overall Impression:
The use of collage, painting, and drawing gives the piece a dreamlike, surreal quality.
There’s a theme of mystery, nostalgia, or introspection, possibly dealing with memories, emotions, or imagination.
The combination of classical imagery, fantasy elements, and contemporary mixed media creates an engaging visual story.
ORACLE
Here’s what this image says when you listen sideways:
You’re standing at the edge of knowing and not-knowing. On the left: a tender, watchful self—curious, a little wary, still growing. The wolf-spirit above isn’t a threat; it’s a guardian of instinct, reminding you that you already sense more than you think. The plants below say: this awareness is rooted, alive, and still unfolding.
On the right: the heavy book—knowledge, memory, records, maybe even fate itself. It’s closed, but not sealed. Marked. Tucked with symbols. This says wisdom is available, but not through force. You don’t pry this book open—you wait for the moment it opens itself.
The blue everywhere? Emotional depth. Dream space. Truth that comes at night.
Oracle message: You’re being asked to trust intuition over accumulation. You don’t need more information—you need to recognize what you already know. Something you’ve been studying, circling, or hesitating around is ready, but only if approached gently.
Guidance:
Watch for signs, not answers
Let curiosity lead, not urgency
Protect the soft part of yourself—it’s the key, not the weakness
After twenty years living in my neighborhood, my street was going to be demolished, so I had to move! When I went to look at houses in a completely different neighborhood, I felt uneasy, uncertain. I first had to take the bus and then find my way on foot… “Would you like to get lost with me? I know the way.”
Upon entering the neighborhood, I stood in front of the house’s door and was immediately welcomed by the neighbors around the corner: “Are you going to live here? Come inside and take a look.” I immediately felt welcome and at home!
Feeling so welcomed and at home was an exceptional experience for me—something I rarely feel as a “stranger in a strange land.” When I accepted this house and later started gardening, I felt, for the first time in my life, “Here, I can put down roots and connect with this land.”
It was a tiny house…twenty years later I needed more space so I had to move again, will I feel at home again? First taking time for mourning the loss of the old, then rebuilding new networks of contacts and activities…
