Bij de evaluatie van de workshop ‘de Dode Hoek’ realiseerde ik me dat ik nog veel huiswerk heb te doen:

Wat is het belangrijkste onderdeel van mijn recept om in de puree te raken?

exit-strategie om los te komen van posttraumatisch kerksyndroom

Denken:
Kompas ontwikkelen om meer focus op mijn richting te krijgen.

Voelen:
‘interesting times’ ervaren, verandering, chaos, eenzaamheid.

Doen:
(Ritueel) afscheid nemen van het oude, om plek te maken voor het nieuwe.
Uitbreiding projecten bij buurthuizen en wijkcentra.
Verdere orientatie op humanisme.

Wat zijn mijn kaders?

Ik groeide op in een wij-cultuur en bevind me nu in een ik-cultuur; mijn uitdaging is om enerzijds me tot op zekere hoogte aan te passen aan de dominante cultuur van het land waar ik verblijf, en anderzijds om mijn eigenheid niet teveel kwijt te raken.

Als peranakan heb ik het protestantisme meegekregen als christelijk sausje over de mix van confucianisme en kejawen.

Na kerkverlating volgde posttraumatisch kerksyndroom…

Tijdens mijn speurtocht naar andere vormen van zingeving, ben ik vaak dezelfde problemen: dogmatisme, machtsmisbruik, sectevorming.

Via mijn voorouderlijn voel ik affiniteit met confucianisme en kejawen, maar ik besef ook dat in die vormen dezelfde valkuilen aan het licht zijn gekomen in de loop van de geschiedenis.

Met name de humanistische aspecten van confucianisme spreken me het meeste aan, maar zodra een ideaal een instituut wordt gaat het toch vaak mis.

Iets of iemand anders vertrouwen, dat is altijd een risico.

Vaak voel ik me het meeste veilig als ik in alle rust me kan afzonderen om bezig te zijn met  bezinning, maar aan de andere kant heb ik het ook nodig om in een veilige setting met anderen samen bezig te zijn met het vinden van zingeving.

Voor herkenning en inspiratie
De Vrijdenkplaats is een platform waar mensen met dezelfde ervaringen en uitdagingen elkaar kunnen ontmoeten: geloofverlaters, zoekers en twijfelaars. Het biedt verbinding, herkenning, veiligheid en inspiratie. Iedereen is welkom, wat je geloofsachtergrond ook was.

Hoe ben je terecht gekomen bij De Vrijdenkplaats?  

Wil je met ons delen in welke geloofsovertuiging je bent opgevoed?  
 
Mijn vader was pastor voor een protestantse migrantenkerk in een setting die nog veel voorchristelijke invloeden in zich heeft (Chinese voorouderverering, Javaanse mystiek)
Wat is jouw motivatie om mee te doen met De Vrijdenkplaats? 
 
Ik was onder de indruk van ‘mag het licht aan’ als uiting van vrijdenkers en wilde deze stroming verder meemaken.
‘Toevallig’ zag ik op de leestafel ook een artikel over het Humanisme in de Chinese tradities (zoals Confucius), dat trok mijn aandacht en interesse.
En zou jij jezelf bijvoorbeeld wel of niet een geloofsverlater noemen?
 
Ik heb lang geleden gemerkt dat ik me niet meer thuisvoelde in de dogmatiek van de kerk, in mijn speurtocht naar alternatieven kwam ik via new age terecht in een poging om mijn eigen vorm van zingeving te formuleren: ‘spiritueel humanisme’ met sterke invloeden van Confucius.
Ik noem mezelf kritische kerkverlater, maar heb nog wel sterke affiniteit met en behoefte aan spiritualiteit die geaard is in maatschappelijk handelen.

V: Wat is jouw link met Zinnig Noord?

A:
In 2015 deed ik voor het eerst mee aan interessante projecten van Zinnig Noord: storytelling, labyrinth; later deed ik mee aan stiltewandelingen. Kun je iets meer vertellen over jouw ervaring met de stiltewandeling destijds? Hoe heb je die destijds ervaren?
Wat me toen aansprak, was het idee dat deze community een poging deed om een brug tussen kerk en maatschappij te slaan. 

V: Waarom sprak dit je zo aan?

A:
Als kritische kerkverlater ben ik een tijdje bezig geweest met post-kerk rouwverwerking , in die community kwam ik teveel dogmatiek tegen.
Bij het programma van Zinnig Noord proefde ik de poging om gedurfd te experimenteren met meer hedendaagse spiritualiteit, met bruggetjes naar andere tradities


V: Wat inspireerde je tot het ontwikkelen van de wandelingen?

A:
Na het aangaan van een aantal coachwandelingen, herinnerde ik mij de stiltewandelingen die ik eerder liep, en ook de speurtochten naar magische plekken in de stadsjungle zoals ik die vroeger samen deed met een goede vriendin. 

V: Wat maakt dat je deze positieve ervaring wilt doorgeven aan anderen?

A:
In mijn beleving zijn magische/spirituele ervaringen te vinden op allerlei plekken. Ik vind het belangrijk om die ervaringen met anderen aan te gaan en te delen.


V: Waarom spelen de seizoenen een belangrijke rol in de wandelingen?

Sinds eind negentiger jaren vorig millenium deed ik regelmatig mee met seizoensrituelen volgens het framework van wicca/moderne hekserij (met name de Reclaiming-traditie), en sinds dit millenium ben ik meer bezig met neo-sjamanisme. 
Seizoensrituelen helpen me om meer contact te krijgen met de natuur en de spirits van dit land. 

V: Kun je dat laatste uitleggen?

A:
Toen ik begon met tuinieren, kon ik ervaren hoe ik me meer verbonden kon voelen met mijn leefomgeving, ik kon meer wortelen en gronden, me hier echt thuisvoelen.
Seizoensrituelen zoals het Jaarwiel vieren, bieden me een framework waarmee ik de seizoenen sterker kan markeren en ervaren.


V: Nog niet erg lang ben je met pensioen, heeft dit jouw manier van zingeven verandert?

A:
Sinds kantoorwerk geen onderdeel meer is van mijn dagelijks ritme, heb ik tijd voor mijn ‘neven-activiviteiten’ die nu mijn hoofd-activiteiten zijn geworden: taijiquan, qigong, orakelen, bloggen, schrijven, vrijwilligerswerk (Doras & Zinnig Noord), wandelen, workshops zingeving. 

V:
Hoe is het om deze activiteiten meer aandacht te kunnen geven?
Wat doet dit met je?
Ben jij / is je leven daardoor verandert?

A:
Enerzijds is het een uitdaging om dagelijks zelfstandig structuur aan te brengen in mijn dagritme.
Anderzijds is het bevrijdend om echt ruimte te ervaren voor de dingen die ik echt belangrijk vind:
bezinning, oefeningen, kennisoverdracht.
Mijn leven is een stuk interessanter geworden!

V: Wie of wat is jouw community op dit moment?

A:
Sinds de lockdown zijn een aantal groepen, waar ik onderdeel van was, uit elkaar gevallen.
Ik zie mezelf dus niet als onderdeel van een community, maar eerder als onderdeel van diverse losse netwerken.

Wat is het verschil tussen een community en een netwerk?
Welk van de twee heeft jouw voorkeur en waarom?

A:
Verschil Community versus netwerk: ik vergelijk deze met het verschil tussen ‘close friends’ en ‘bekenden’.
Ik heb maar een handvol ‘close friends’ waarmee ik intensief kan samenzijn en een groot aantal ‘bekenden’ op social media waarmee ik incidentele uitwisselingen mee heb online.
Voor echt contact geef ik de voorkeur aan Community.

V: Zinnig Noord heeft dit jaar als thema ‘Grond’. Wat doe jij om te gronden?

A:
Ik doe taijiquan, (chinese gevechtsdans), qigong (chinese yoga), wandelen (in het groen). 

V: Hoe helpen deze activiteiten jou bij het gronden? Wellicht helpt het om in te zoomen op één van deze drie.

A:
Met name Qigong helpt me met fysiek meer in balans te komen, te gronden, en mijn innerlijke kracht te versterken.
Door specifieke houding en beweeg-oefeningen kan ik steviger staan, vloeiender bewegen, effectief kracht uitoefenen.

V: Is er nog iets dat je zelf wilt toevoegen?

A:
In mijn contact met Zinnig Noord ervaar ik de humanistische benadering als een goed werkbare brug tussen Kerk en Maatschappij. 

V: Kun je een voorbeeld geven waarin dit zichtbaar wordt?

A:
Tijdens mijn contact met de Zinnig Noord programmamaker van 2020-2021, ervoer ik het als een verademing dat deze vanuit een Humanistische achtergrond kwam, dit sluit voor mij beter aan dan een christelijke theoloog.
